In Honor of Change:

I was reading JC over at Trip to the Periphery and she, too, has many options and life changes coming up soon. My friend Tasha at Habits of a Mouse just signed agreement papers for her first house. And my dear friend Jenna at My Notion of Significance, formerly a roommate of mine in college, is going through some life changes that comes with leaving behind the early twenties and approaching true adulthood. Amy of The Lawsons do Dallas just relocated and she and her family are working on opening up a new Chiropractic office. And, not least, my new friend Laurie at Everything in Blue and my favorite Etsy shop Ouou, too, is undergoing radical change in her life. In honor of all this change, of all this renewed life-energy that comes with spring, I offer the following poem this Friday:

from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings:

The Road goes ever on and on

Down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,

And I must follow, if I can,

Pursuing it with weary feet,

Until it joins some larger way,

Where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say.

And further, a passage from The Fellowship of the Ring:

Frodo speaking to Pippen and Sam after leaving Hobbiton on the way to Buckland, as a diversion for the beginning of his long journey, quoting Bilbo Baggins:

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door,” he used to say. “You step into the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to. Do you realize that this is the very path that goes through Mirkwood, and that if you let it, it might take you to the Lonely Mountain or even further and to worse places?”

I doubt our life changes will take us to the dark recesses of the world, our lives, or our minds, for that matter, but it is a scary and perilous journey nontheless. Our journeys will take us to wonderful new places for growth and exploration. Here’s to you, my friends, as we set out on the road to our futures! I look forward to supporting, following, and encouraging you along the way!

Oh, so sweet you’ve brought tears to my eyes. I feel blessed to be in your company, the company of these amazing bloggers also in flux, and LOTR passages!
Lucky for me I caught a few moments to catch up on blogs today (wink!).

Your little gifties are in the mail as of today (sorry so behind!), the smallest offering for the most precious support, encouragement, and knitty goodness you offer. Your blog and your words are so peaceful.

Big hug! Spring is on its way! 🙂

Awww!! Thanks so much, Jen! (((huggs)))

It’s great to have someone to talk to about everything and anything, but don’t you dare sell yourself short! While it might not seem it,you’re on your own journey. Some paths just come to steep hills and trying passages a little sooner than others. Regardless as to the route your path takes, I will always be here watching and, hopefully, helping.

To Jen, and all those mentioned in her post: Congrats! ‘Tis the season of change, after all! 😀
